Refuel to Recover

When a car drives for a long time it will run out of gas and in order to keep going you have to add more gas. Our bodies are kind of like cars, after exercise we need to refuel. Water and food are fuel to our bodies.

Recovery Nutrition is the food you eat and beverages you drink after exercise. The food we choose can actually help speed up or delay recovery. After a workout is especially important to focus on carbohydrates, protein, and water. These key nutrients help refuel our body with the nutrients your body used to fuel your workout.

  • Carbohydrates: help give us energy.
  • Protein: helps us to build strong muscles by speeding up recovery.
  • Water: helps us replenish after sweating.
